I believe there is a God.
My parents immigrated to America in 1952. They had a sponsor from Knox, Indiana. As young adults they left Germany. It took them ten days to cross the ocean. In New York they left the boat and waited on the pier for their sponsor.
As families were leaving one by one with sponsors it got to the point that only three people were left on the pier. My father, mother and my oldest sister who at the time was two years old.
A lady from travelers aid went over to my parents and my dad explained who he was waiting for. The lady had to break the news to my parents that the farmer no longer wanted help on his farm in Indiana.
My parents left their home in Germany. Left their family and their comfort zone. They traveled 10 days across the ocean, to learn they have no where to go.
Travelers aid put my parents and sister in a hotel over night and began searching for another farmer to take them. She found a farmer in Wye Mills, Maryland. The farmer sent bus fare. It was a days trip from New York to Wye Mills.
When mom, dad and my sister arrived at the bus station in Maryland they were greeted by a lady who asked, “Are you German?”, yes, my father answered. Then she asked “are you Lutheran?”, yes, said my father. “I’ll pick you up Sunday and take you to church” she said.
I believe this is not just a coincidence.
Each Sunday after their farm chores were done the lady from the bus station picked up my parents and sister and took them to church.
Every week one of the members of the church would have my family over for lunch. Then they would drive them back to the farm. The ladies from the church would give my mother fabric so she could make clothes.
When my parents boarded the boat for America, they had the clothes on their back and one bag. But, the one bag went to Knox, Indiana.
God’s hand was certainly with my parents.
As they got to know the people of the Lutheran congregation they realized they knew the same people in Germany. Think about this, this was in 1952. There was definetly no internet. There was barely telephone. The lady at the bus stations brother lived in Germany. He was friends with my grandfather in Germany. I believe this is not just a coincidence.
What mom, dad and my sister witnessed was profound hospitality from a little church in Cordova, Maryland.
They drove them to church. They fed them, clothed them, they helped them learn English but mostly, they loved them.
My parents made life long friends and experienced the love of God when things did not look promising for them.
These were the stories I was raised on. Since my inception into this life I have heard about God and have watched as God has been present in my life.
When people ask me, ‘how can you believe in something that there is no proof’? Well, for me there is proof.
My parents experienced God in many areas of their lives. They shared stories with us.
During sad times in my life such as, my Mom dying, my Dad dying or my brother dying. My diagnoses with cancer. My husbands diagnoses with cancer. Or, in the blink of an eye losing a business.
Through the trials of life I feel a peace which surpasses all understanding. I feel hope for the future. And I believe my strength comes from my God.
Of course we can also talk about the many miracles of our world.
- Water: colorless, odorless and without taste, and yet no living thing can survive without it. I praise God everyday for clean water.
- Eyes: eyes can distinguish approximately 10 million different colors.
- DNA: every cell of our bodies there exists a very detailed instruction code. We are complex beyond our imaginations
- Love: we have a desire to seek love. (God is Love).
- Universe: it contains too much order for our existence to have been created out of chaos.
So, God is real to me.
If you are not sure about the existence of God, you are welcome to message me I’ll be happy to talk with you. But, even more powerful is YOU asking God; ‘Are You Real, God?’
The bible is a collection of books that can guide us in our life today and teach us about who God is. There are about 40 different people who have written the bible.
When you compare the stories within the bible the acuracy is very telling. To begin your journey Read Jeremiah 29:13. Jeremiah is one of the 40 writers in the bible.
My prayer for you is you find God and begin a relationship with Him and his son Jesus. Why would I pray this for you? Because I believe in eternal life.
I believe there are two places we can choose to spend eternity. One is in heaven with God the Father and His son Jesus.
The other place of eternity is in Hell with Satan.
I choose Love and light through Jesus. I pray, you will too.
I’ve seen God in my life and countless others lives, too. I believe, do you?
